After this week’s midseason finale, season 8 of Arrow will both return and conclude in 2020, so here’s what to expect when it does. Arrow’s eighth and final season only consists of ten episodes, which means that only three episodes remain to be aired, and the show’s eighth season is expected to mark the end of Oliver’s journey in the Arrowverse.
The final chapter for Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) sends the Emerald Archer and his team in a whole new direction by having them deal with a threat bigger than anything they’ve ever faced. Arrow, which usually puts Oliver in more grounded situations, has placed its hero right in the middle of its upcoming Arrowverse crossover, “Crisis on Infinite Earths”. Oliver has been tasked by the Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) with a mission that involves saving the multiverse from waves of anti-matter that can destroy Earths.
Joined by Diggle (David Ramsey), Earth-2’s Laurel (Katie Cassidy), and his adult children from the future, Oliver has spent season 8 doing everything he can to complete his mission. So far, each episode of season 8 has honored a past season by bringing back one or more key characters and echoing old storylines. The theme of season 8 has been sacrifice. Since the end of season 7, Oliver has been aware that his association with the Monitor and his role in the impending Crisis will end in his death, but what exactly Arrow’s final episodes have in store for Oliver and Team Arrow is still a mystery.
When Arrow Season 8 Returns
Arrow season 8 will return on January 14 with its “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover episode, which will serve as part 4 of the five-part event. Arrow’s characters can, of course, be found in the other installments of “Crisis” as well. After the “Crisis” episode, Arrow season 8 will have two episodes remaining. Arrow’s series finale will air January 28.
What To Expect From Arrow Season 8 Part 2
Oliver’s story is nearly over. It’s been heavily teased that Oliver will die in the Crisis, but the show will still have two episodes left after the Crisis, which means that there’s more to the story. That being said, Oliver may only appear in one of the last two episodes. Arrow’s ninth episode will serve as a backdoor pilot for Green Arrow and the Canaries, so it may not include Oliver at all. As for the tenth episode, details have been for the most part kept under wraps, but it has been confirmed that Emily Bett Rickards will return for the series finale, having left Arrow at the end of season 7.
