So to pay homage to a true OG whose skin line-up feels like a timetable of Riot Games, we’re looking into Ashe and ranking her best skins. And for this list we’re taking into account both the visuals of each skin, and the price – and, of course, this is just my personal preference mixed in here as well.
14. Woad Ashe
Released: July 18th, 2010 Price: 520 RP We’re starting off with my least favorite Ashe skin, Woad. I get what they were going for with this, as an archer character seems like an obvious choice for the wilderness hunter theme. But I think it just misses the mark completely. Although the splash art gets its point across, the in-game model just feels like a really bad Chroma. A lot of Ashe’s skin are very minimalistic – but this was is the worst of them in my books. Especially since there’s a different skin that nails a similar theme way more effectively.
13. Queen Ashe
Released: September 21st, 2010 Price: 975 RP This skin is just not worth the price tag. I know it’s an old legacy skin, but the in-game model just looks like a really bad revamp. The design of the dress is pretty simple and nice – but nothing about this skin really screams “Queen”, so Ashe just looks like she is going out for a dinner party. And when you’re in a game, that aesthetic just comes off as wonky. I still prefer it to Woad Ashe – but the higher price tag stops this one from going any higher in our ranking.
12. Amethyst Ashe
Released: November 15th, 2011 Price: 975 RP Let’s face it: this is no one’s favorite skin, but I think it is okay. Yes, it’s just another color swap at the end of the day. But I think it looks decent. The purple and gold combo makes her pop out a bit more, plus her bow has a very nice simple design, and her overall model seems fitted for a battlefield. There’s no one singular theme that this skin draws upon, either. Which is why a lot of people seem to hate it. But I think it’s alright for what it is (although still overpriced).
11. Freljord Ashe
Released: November 20th, 2009 Price: 520 RP This skin could have easily been Ashe’s base skin. It’s another color swap, only it’s appropriately priced as such. It has a very dominant white and gold theme that both looks fancy enough to be worn by a queen, and practical enough to be worn by a Freljord. Not much more to say about it though. It is an okay chroma-esque skin that doesn’t price itself like it was a completely original design, so it gets a pass.
10. Championship Ashe
Released: September 12th, 2017 Price: 1350 RP This might be a hot take, but I simply think that this skin is not worth the money. The fact that it’s a championship skin is the only real cool aspect about it, being that the visuals are simply bland. It’s the same old Ashe, only now she has some fancy-looking armor on. The color choices are pretty good, and the particles are clean. But in no way do I think it’s worth coughing up 1350 RP. If it was priced at 975, it would have gone up a few ranks. But being what it is, I simply think that you can achieve more with less.
9. Sherwood Forest Ashe
Released: April 8th, 2010 Price: 520 RP Speaking of doing more with less, may I present Sherwood Forest Ashe. Yes, this skin is pretty basic. But it also does its theme justice while remaining dirt-cheap. It’s a skin as old as time – but I think it’s your best bet if you’re looking for a traditional hunter aesthetic. The color green is dominant in the skin, letting her abilities pop out more. And the standard wooden bow fits the overall theme perfectly. I might be alone on this one, but I think it’s an extremely good bang for your buck.
8. PROJECT: Ashe
Released: August 1st, 2016 Price: 1820 RP Just another case of an okay skin being priced too high. The PROJECT skin-line usually produces some bangers, but this is just not one of them. This is because you won’t really see the cool parts of the skin in action. The dance animation is amazing, and so are some of the idle voice lines. But the actual ability animations leave much to be desired. With the exception of her E, all of the abilities look like the base ones with a coat of sparkles. Were it 975 RP or even 1350 RP, my tone would be a bit different. But as it is, it’s simply not worth the price.
7. Ocean Song Ashe
Released: June 9th, 2022 Price: 1350 RP This is one of Ashe’s newer skins – and it’s simply all over the place. First off, let’s talk about the theme. It feels like a weird blend of Pool Party and Space Groove that doesn’t do either side justice. So, you’ll have random water effects mixed in with music. And although this works well for your backing animation (as it’s just extremely chill), your abilities seem off. Secondly, some weird decisions were made when designing the character model as well. For one, you don’t have a quiver. And two, you barely look like Ashe. Like honestly, you can’t look at this splash art and tell me that it doesn’t look like Quin. All of that being said, the skin still isn’t all that bad. It has clean particles and animations. The W and ult feel impactful. And the E is kind of a vibe. Overall, if you don’t think about it – the skin is an okay choice. But definitely not one of Riot’s best creations.
6. Cosmic Queen Ashe
Released: August 21st, 2018 Price: 1350 RP I’ll admit that this is a very simple and very well-designed skin. Again, Ashe being what she is, there isn’t too much room for new animations. But the skin still does have some really nice features. Personally, I really like how distinct her Q animation is (making her bow go from gold into a deep blue) as I feel like it usually goes a bit overlooked. The other animations are very subtle, but fit the theme well enough. The backing animation and some of the emotes are also pretty dope. Overall, a very good skin that was just missing that little umph to push it up higher up on this list.
5. Marauder Ashe
Released: February 11th, 2015 Price: 750 RP This skin is extremely simple but provides a great bang for your buck. It just changes the character model. But I think the change is drastic enough to make it worth considering. Well, that and the fact that it’s only 750 RP. It gives Ashe some really nice-looking battle armor, a red cape, and a Skyrim-looking bow, while leaving the animations as they were. It’s nothing to write home about. But I think the mix of value and uniqueness makes it more than qualified to play with the big boys.
4. Coven Ashe
Released: August 12th, 2021 Price: 1350 RP Coven Ashe ended up being a lot tamer than I expected, to be honest. The splash art is brilliant. It clearly conveys the dark, edgy Coven theme – and since this skin also has a rather decent voice filter, I expected the animation team to go all-out. But yeah, it’s actually quite subtle. Your Q, W, and R just feel like the base animations but with a much nicer color scheme and texture, leaving only your E to be thematically distinct. Unsurprisingly, if you’ve seen Coven skins before, the new E portrays a crow flying through the sky. Other key points of interest is the little ritual you do during your backing animation, some spooky sound effects, and crow particles as far as the eye can see. Oh yeah, and also a pretty decent chroma selection. And when it comes to the character model, it’s clean, but not extremely memorable in my opinion. So overall this is a nice, clean skin with some good particles – but lacking a bit of that oomph to really make it memorable.
3. High Noon Ashe
Released: October 10th, 2019 Price: 1820 RP Thematically, this is another skin that just made perfect sense. Although I will admit that it’s not as cool as some of the other High Noon skins, it’s still pretty epic. Especially if we’re talking about some of the idol and movement animations. Ashe’s home-guard animation (as well as her backing animation) now have her riding a black horse, which alone makes this skin top 3 material. The in-game model is also pretty decent, and the E animation fits right in while the Q, W, and R animations are pretty basic but still okay.
2. Fae Dragon Ashe
Released: October 1st, 2020 Price: 1350 RP If we’re talking about nice color palettes, this skin has it down to a science. At a glance, it’s very obvious that it’s a newer skin since all the animations are colorful to the max. This skin also has one of the best-looking ults out of all the Ashe skins: it features a dragon swirling around your CC delivery. Hell, even the chromas are pretty decent for this skin. The only real complaint I have is that it’s not as instantly recognizable or memorable as our number one pick!
1. Heartseeker Ashe
Released: February 14th, 2014 Price: 975 RP Although some might see this as another meme skin, I think it’s the best value that you’ll find in Ashe’s line-up. The in-game model is really well made, the splash art showcases what a simp Tryndamere is, and the in-game animations are instantly recognizable. Especially the ulti. Because what’s more iconic that being hit by a giant heart arrow from the other side of the map as the power of love (and the enemy turret) kill you over the duration of three seconds? And you get all of this for only 975 RP! Note: this content was created under Riot Games’ “Legal Jibber Jabber” policy using assets owned by Riot Games.
