Popular graphic design iPad app Astropad has today announced a new partnership with FiftyThree, the company behind the Paper app and accompanying Pencil stylus. Astropad has revealed that version 1.1 of its iPad app adds deep support for the Pencil stylus by FiftyThree. With support for Pencil, users will be able able to draw from their iPad directly into Photoshop and other apps on the Mac.

Astropad now supports the unique features of Pencil, including surface pressure and the eraser. Astropad is able to detect the amount of the Pencil tip that is touching the display and translate that into pressure. To use the eraser, simply flip over the Pencil and your design app will automatically switch to eraser mode.

In addition to support for Pencil, Astropad 1.1 also adds support for Adobe Ink. For those unfamiliar, Astropad allows users to draw directly from their iPad into Photoshop, SketchBook, Manga Studio, Corel Painter and other desktop apps.
