Athleta has come up with a return policy that stipulates the processes followed during return, return period, eligible products, exclusions, etc of products that their customers have purchased either in-store or online from Athleta, Gap, Old Navy, and the Banana Republic and would like to return them. The policy also outlines the reasons for returns of products acceptable by Athleta and the method of refund or exchange of the product.

If the customer had purchased a product in final sale and they want to return them, Athleta will not accept them for exchange or refund A customer cannot return or exchange a piece of clothing that they have worn for a refund or exchange in Athleta.

Reasons for returning a product to Athleta

The following are the reasons that might make a customer want to return a product to Athleta.

A customer who made a wrong purchase in terms of color or size can return the product to Athleta for a refund of the purchase amount or exchange of the right productIf the product a customer purchased was damaged or defective product before it was delivered to the customer, the customer is allowed to return the product to Athleta.  Athleta might have shipped the wrong shipment to the customer. The customer is to return the package for the right shipment or refund their purchase amount.   

Athleta return period 

Athleta offers its customer 60 days return period from the day of purchase to return the items purchased and 45 days for items purchased at Gap, Old Navy, and the Banana Republic but are not satisfied with them.

Athleta offers customers free shipping for the returns of items they purchased online if they are shipped back to Athleta using Athleta prepaid shipping label or customer makes an in-store return.

If the customer chooses to use other carriers to ship their returns to Athleta, they will have to cover the shipping fees. 

How to return a product to Athleta? 

The customer can either return the item purchased in-store or by mail following the process outlined below. 

In-store return 

Athleta accepts in-store return of products for items purchased either In-store, Online, and not marked Mail only. 

To return the product Athleta store, the customer visits the nearest Athleta store with the item to be returned in its original package, original purchase receipt, shipping email confirmation, or credit card used during purchase. The customer informs the store of the intent to return the product providing reasons. The store inspects the product to ensure it is in good condition, provides an eligible reason, and accepts the return. The customer will then be refunded the purchase price of the product or given an exchange of the product.  

Return by mail 

A customer is allowed to return items only bought online or marked mail only by mail. To return a product by mail the customer has to first ensure their product is well prepared for shipping by having the original package, packaging slip, and attach the shipping label on the package. If the customer is using USPS for shipping they have to take the package to the nearest USPS location, schedule a pickup or give it to the delivery person for shipping to Athleta. If the customer prefers to use UPS, they have to take their package to their nearest UPS location. Athleta will refund the customer once the item has been delivered, inspected, and approved.  

Return refund 

Athleta refunds its customer using the original form of payment they used to make their purchases.
