Attack on Titan has set Hollywood abuzz as the season two premiere looms closer. While there is still no official release date for the second season here in the US, patient Japanese fans can end their four year wait at the beginning of April. The first trailer for season two is chock full of Titans, familiar faces, and non-stop action. The series also finds itself in Warner Bros. sights as they negotiate buying film rights with Harry Potter alum David Heyman attached to produce.

Adapted from a fairly young manga (created in 2009 by writer and illustrator Hajime Isayama), Attack on Titan’s 21 volumes have spawned novels, anime, games, and even a live-action film. The story begins 100 years after humanity lost most of its numbers to the devastating onslaught of giant, man-eating beasts known as Titans.

The first season ends after an epic battle between two main characters that were turned into Titans. While Annie was defeated, Eren has been able to control his ability and is allowed to stay in the Military’s Scout Regiment. But with the epilogue showing that the Titans actually live in the walls that humans believe protect them, where does that leave those who remain behind Wall Rose? Anime Mojo (h/t CBM) has translated the season two summary of what fans can expect in April. The Attack on Titan season 2 official synopsis is as follows:

With an abundance of source material, the delay between the first and second season may have helped provide a better story. Season one is based on the first eight volumes of the manga, and it’s unclear how much season two will cover. The Wall Rose story is collected into volume 11, and the above poster does appear to reveal both the Beast Titan and Ymir; volumes 9 and 10, respectively.

Eren Jaeger swore to wipe out every last Titan, but in a battle for his life he wound up becoming the thing he hates most. With his new powers, he fights for humanity’s freedom facing the monsters that threaten his home. After a bittersweet victory against the Female Titan, Eren finds no time to rest—a horde of Titans is approaching Wall Rose and the battle for humanity continues!

The Beast Titan is terrorizing some of the scouts, Eren is fighting the Armored Titan, and the rest of the regiment looks ready for battle. Will the four year gap between seasons have been worth the wait? Regardless of where the second season picks up, fans have a lot to be excited about based on the amount of action in the newest poster.

Attack on Titan Season 2 will be released in Japan on April 1st. No word yet on when it will be available elsewhere.
